Artist Details:Emil Ganso was born in Halberstadt Germany and emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1914 becoming an American citizen at the outbreak of World War 1. He was a painter and print-maker of landscapes and especially as an interpreter of the female nude for which he was highly praised. A mainly self taught artist, from 1925 he was represented by the Weyhe Gallery and exhibited widely throughout the United States and abroad. Examples of his works are held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and at the Philadelphia Museum of Art among others.
