Condition:Very good. Light foxing in the margins.
Description:Printed on toned Chine applique on the full support sheet c.28 x 21 cm. (Image c.15.5 x 13 cm.) signed and dated in the plate. As first published by the Gazette des Beaux Arts and printed by Delatre in Paris. Ref: Delteil 17. 4th state. The etching was commissioned by the great critic and collector Burty and bitten at the studio of Bracquemond. The composition was based on a painting by Millet for the Salon of 1861. A scarce lifetime impression.
