Many magazines and periodicals employed artists to illustrate stories and serials either weekly or monthly. These artists were often anonymous and unfortunately left their work unsigned. Some of them became famous as artists and illustrators in later years and often wouldn’t acknowledge their earlier hack work no matter how well executed. These drawings remain, however, a fascinating window into the style and fashion of the period.
