Adrian Bury, an artist and writer, was born in London as Albert Buhrer the son of a sculptor and bronze caster and nephew of the sculptor, Alfred Gilbert. His art training began at evening classes and in 1914, he studied at the Academie Julian and Atelier Colarossi in Paris. He began work as a freelance writer and cartoonist, joining the Sunday Pictorial in 1920. Showed at the Chelsea Arts Club and exhibited RA; Leger Galleries and RWS whose Club’s annual volume he edited for a time. As well as writing his autobiography “Just a Moment,Time” in 1967, he wrote volumes on the artists Francis Towne, Reginald Eves and Alfred Gilbert among others. He was a close friend and painting partner of Russell Flint and shared some similarities to Flint in his watercolours.
