Charles Cottet studied at the Academie Julian in Paris as a painter and lithographer. He was influenced by Puvis de Chavannes and an admirer of Degas. In the 1890’s he joined the Nabis artists, Bonnard, Denis, Vuillard and K.X. Roussel in painting and lithography and turned to etching around 1905.
