Charles Jacque

Charles Jacque took up etching in around 1842 in Paris. He was influenced by Rembrandt especially in landscape subjects. Jacques moved to Barbizon in 1849 which had attracted a colony of artists whose interests were with open air and everyday life subjects and were the precursors of Impressionism. Ref: R.J.
