Clifford Cyril Webb, born in London and studied under Walter Bayes at the Westminster School of Art, 1919-22.
He later taught there and at the Birmingham School of Art
1922-6 and at the St. Martins School of Art. A founder member of the Society of Wood-Engravers. Exhibited R.A.
New English Art Club, London Group, Royal Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers/ Printmakers.
Works are held at the V&A, British Museum among many others. A Retrospective held at the Leicester Polytechnic 1982.
He was a prolific book illustrator including for Children’s books and private presses like the Golden Cockerel Press. Especially noted for his large coloured wood-engravings featuring landscapes with animals.
