David Carr painter, printmaker and teacher, was born in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art 1962-6. He won the Tonks Drawing Prize and upon leaving, was awarded a David Murray Landscape Scholarship by the RA and a Boise Travelling Scholarship from University College which permitted him to spend time at the British School in Rome. Became Head of pre-foundation studies at Camden Arts Centre 1969-82, later tutor, and also taught at Goldsmiths and at Birmingham and Kingston Schools of Art. He showed at the RA and with the London Group being elected L.G. in 1987. Solo exhibitions at Camden Arts Centre, 1987 and Cadogan Contemporary in 1989 and at The Walk in 1997. Ref: Buckman Vol.1.
