Artist
Felix Buhot.
Felix Buhot was born in Valognes, Normandy and moved to Paris in 1865. By 1866 he had joined the studio of Isidore Pils in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He learned the basis of lithography but only started to etch in about 1873/74. The preeminent critic Philippe Burty commissioned Buhot to make several etchings which were entered in the Salon of 1875. Buhot became one of most inventive and important French etchers of the period. Ref: Fisher/Baxter catalogue of the prints. Baltimore Museum of Art 1983.
