Artist

Francisco Goya

Goya was born in Fuente de Todus, Aragon and was the first artist to make the transition from Old Master to Modern Artist around the turn of the nineteenth century. As well as being a painter of great importance he was a prolific and innovative print maker issuing collections of prints on themes such as Los Caprichos and Los Proverbios among others. Such was his fame that these collections of etchings were re-printed through many editions in the ninetenth and twentieth centuries.
