Frans Priking attended the Bauhaus School to train as a painter in 1948. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Berlin 1949-51 before becoming a student of Max Pechstein when he became influenced in expressionism and fauvism. His first exhibition was at Arles in 1952 at the Reattu Museum where he met Picasso. There was a retrospective exhibition held in Arles at the Hotel Atrium in 2003.
