Frederick Vango Burridge R.E. studied under Frank Short at the Royal College of Art winning a travelling scholarship in 1893. He was elected associate of the R.E. in 1895 and fellow in 1898. He became Headmaster and later Principal at the Liverpool School of Art 1897-1912 and Principal of the Central School of Arts & Crafts 1912-30. Primarily exhibiting at the R.E. and also at the R.A. with mainly landscape etchings showing vigorous handling of sky and clouds forms in his early plates later becoming more open and with atmospheric freshness to the subjects.
