Georges Braque was born in Paris but moved to Le Havre where he studied at the Academy des Beaux-Arts. He returned to Paris in 1900 and studied at the Academie Julien. He was a founder member of the Fauves but broke away to found Cubism along with Picasso. As well as painting he was a printmaker and illustrated several books with original graphics.
