Artist

Hans Strohofer

Hans Strohofer studied art in his native Vienna and began to exhibit his original lithographs and paintings there in 1909. Although, he created both landscapes and architectural studies, he was most famous for his portraits, combining both grace and penetrating character analysis, Portrait Study — Moz Perry is superb in its rendering of both character and design. With its intricate juxtaposition of this sitter’s face with her elaborate blouse one is reminded of that other great Austrian artist, Gustave Klimt.
Hans Strohofer’s original lithographs are housed in public collections in Vienna, Berlin, Dresden, London, and other important institutions. Note: The British Museum, lists a signed impression of Moz Perry in their permanent collection, Registration number: 1924.0512.78. Portrait Study — Moz Perry was commissioned by Vervielfaltigende Kunst in 1923.
