Heinrich Nauen studied in Dusseldorf, Stuttgart and Munich, 1898/1902 and later resided in the Kunstlerkolonie Laethem-Saint-Martin, Flandern 1902/05. Berlin 1905/11. Became a teacher in the Dusseldorfer Akademie 1921/37 and 1931/38 in Neuss, and in Kalker,1938/40. He was an Expressionist painter and print maker, mainly in etching, executing a portrait of his college, Erich Heckel in 1914.
