Henri Matisse painter and printmaker moved to Paris in 1892 to enrol in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Whilst studying in the studio of Gustave Moreau he met fellow Fauves Henri Mansuin, Albert Marquet and Charles Camoin. He was a prolific printmaker especially in lithography for poster work in his later years usually executed in bright colours.
