Jean Maurice Eugene Clement Cocteau writer, poet, artist and printmaker was born in Maisons-Laffitte in Yvelmes near Paris. Known mainly as a playwright and poet, he was a fine illustrator and print-maker sometimes illustrating his own works. His print-making mainly consisted of original lithographs in colour or in black and white and generally imitating his fine line drawings for which, as an artist, he is best known.
