John Northcote Nash,younger brother of Paul Nash took up oil painting in c.1914.He was mainly self taught and became an official war artist in 1918. He taught at the Ruskin School of Drawing (1924-29) and at the Royal College of Art (1934-40,1945-57). Prolific illustrator for trade and private presses. Was a founder member of the London Group(1914) elected NEAC (1919).SWE (c.1920).ARA (1940).RA (1951); and awarded CBE (1964).
