Marcel Vertes was born in Ujpest, Hungary, and studied under Karoly Ferenczy. He moved to Paris via Vienna in the early 1920’s. Published various portfolios of erotic works and illustrated books with mainly graphics depicting grls and prostitutes of the Paris brothels. He also published an album of circus scenes and executed designs and decorations for the cinema and theatre. He worked in most print mediums but mainly lithography, etching and pochoir. At the outbreak of WWII he escaped to the USA and settled in New York.
