Born Mary Nancy Wood in Yorkshire. Painter, book binder and most of all, a wood-engraver. Graduate of the Royal College of Art 1933 where she studied under John Nash earning her diploma in 1936. Alec Skempton edited a book of 44 of her wood-engravings published in a limited edition by the Libinus Press in 1989. Before her marriage her prints were signed under her maiden name, Wood, in the 1930’s.
