Ossip Zadkine sculptor and print-maker was born Yossel Aronovich Tsadkin to a Jewish Russian father and a Scottish mother in the city of Vitsebsk, now in Belarus. Went to art school in London and on to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Atrs in Paris in 1910. He joined the Cubist movement while in Paris and worked in the Cubist idiom from 1914 -1925. Known mainly as a sculptor he was also an innovative print-maker especially in lithography and etching. He died in Paris in 1967 and his former home and studio in now the Musee Zadkine.
