Raphael Soyer painter and print-maker was born in Tombov, Russia and emigrated to America and studied at the Cooper Union, New York, the National Academy of Design, N.Y.and at the Art Students League,N.Y. His first print, an etching, was published in 1917 and he continued to make prints in lithography and etching for the next fifty years. A Retrospective Exhibition was given at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York in 1967. He has had many One-Man exhibitions and contributed to Group Exhibitions throughout North America.
