Richard Ranft was born in Plainpalais near Geneva and was taught painting by Gustave Courbet. Most of his graphic work was in the medium of etching,especially in colour, but he executed one lithograph for L’Estampe Moderne in 1898. Ref: G.Kahn, L’OEuvre Grave de Richard Ranft, expo 8-25 June 1910.
