Robert Sargent Austin studied at the Leicester School of Art (1909-13) and at the RCA (1914,1919-22).began teaching engraving at the Royal College of Art (1926-44) becoming Professor of Graphic Design (1948-55). He was elected ARE (1921);RE (1928);PRE (1962);RWS (1930);PRWS (1956);ARA (1939);RA (1949). He exhibited RA;RWS; Collections of his work held BM; Ashmolean;Tate;V & A;Fitzwilliam.
