Artist
Rona Raymond
Miss Rona Gladys Raymond was born in Hampstead Greater London in 1904. She was a free lance artist and is best known for her designs for dust wrappers produced in the 1930’s /40’s and also for illustrations of children in books and periodicals. We have two addresses for her at 29, Deodor Road, Putney, London SW15 and at 5, Stanley Road, Hastings although little more is known about her. She executed dust wrappers for the publishers Methuen and for Collins and various booklet covers for Hastings and St. Leonards signing them “Raymond” within the image. She was apparently the sister of the writer James Hadley Chase. My thanks to Andrew Moss for the information regarding James Hadley Chase.
