Artist
Edouard Chimot
Edouard Chimot was born in Lille, France and studied under Mossa and Levent at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Nice and later under Pharaon de Winter at the Beaux Arts in Lille. He taught himself to etch around 1903 and had his first etching exhibited at the Galerie Brunner at the invitation of Louis Legrand. Later artistic editor of the fine press Les Editions d’Art Devambez and editor of the arts review La Roseraie. Chimot illustrated many books with original etchings, mainly in colour and of an erotic nature and often with extra suite in limited editions and in various states as is usual with French Artists illustrated books of the twentieth century.
