Printed in colours on a sheet of Velin D’arches cream wove paper c.32.5 x 24.5 cm. signed in the plate. One of cinq planches refusees (five refused plates) for an edition of Les Fleur du Mal by Baudelaire published in Paris in 1941 in an edition of 76 copies in all this being one of 50 on velin. It was not unusual for the artists of erotic illustration to include extra plates thought too risque for general publication.
