Jules de Bruycker was born in Ghent and studied at the Ghent Academy. He exhibited for the first time in 1903 and flees to London in 1914 at the outbreak of war where he befriends Frank Brangwyn. He returns to Ghent in 1919 where he resumes etching and printmaking. Although best known as an etcher he made some lithographs.
