Jules Bruycker

Printed in black ink on thick dark cream wove paper c.22.5 x 17 cm.signed with initials in the stone, as issued in Bruxelles by l’Art Belge in 1921. Jules de Bruycker was born in Ghent and studied at the Ghent Academy. He exhibited for the first time in 1903 and flees to London in 1914 at the outbreak of war where he befriends Frank Brangwyn. He returns to Ghent in 1919 where he resumes etching and printmaking. Although best known as an etcher he made some lithographs including this one for the L’Art Belge portfolio.
