Printed on the full sheet of cream wove paper c.35 x 26 cm.by Thomas Way and published in Pennell’s “Lithography and Lithographers” first edition 1898.Alphonse Legros RE. came to London from France in 1863 and in 1875 was put in charge of etching at The Royal College of Art and later at the Slade. As well as some 700 plus etchings he also made lithographs as this fine self portrait done in his sixties for Pennell’s book. Ref;H.J.L.Wright;Catalogue of the works of Alphonse Legros.1929.
