Charles Keene

An illustration to “Contentment” by Thomas Powell as published in “English Sacred Poetry of the 16,17,18th.century” edited by R A Willmott,1862. Printed on fine India paper c.18 x 15.5 cm. and mounted on card sheet,c.36 x 27 cm. which is inscribed “Burnished India Proof” and signed by Gilbert Dalziel in ink below image. The Dalziel brothers would have cut the wood-block from which this proof was pulled. A memorial exhibition was held of the artists work at the Fine Arts Society in 1891. Collections of his work held in the Ashmolean, BM, Fitzwilliam, V & AM. etc. Ref, Houfe p. 358.
