Hellmuth Weissenborn

Signed and dated 1943 in pencil at foot of image. Hellmuth Weissenborn was born in Leipzig, Germany. He emigrated to London in 1938 as a freelance artist. From 1941-70 he was visiting teacher at Ravensbourne College of art. Well known as a print maker illustrator especially at the Acorn Press. He showed at LG. and V&A and had many one-man shows in England and Germany where he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit from the Federal Republic of Germany in 1979.Ref. Buckman, Horne.
