Peter Behrens

Printed from the block on the full sheet of cream laid paper c.37 x 27 cm. as issued in the German periodical “Pan” vol.5 in a limited edition. Peter Behrens studied painting in his native Hamburg 1886-1890 and in 1899 became a founder member of the Darmstadt Artists Colony where he designed his own house. He was an all round artist and designer and a leading exponent of the German “Jugendstil” art movement.
