Thomas Dalziel

Drawing on fine paper laid down on a thick backing sheet c.36.5 x 54 cm. From a series of illustrations for an unidentified book. Thomas Bolton Gilchrist Septimus Dalziel was one of the four brothers who were known mainly for their wood-engravings of the 1860’s. He was the only accomplished artist of the four brothers and illustrated many books c.1850’s-1890’s. He exhibited BI,1858;RA,1846 & 1866. Ref. Houfe, The Dalziel Family 1978.
